Abstract

This paper presents the project “The war diary from the front. A Great War fighter tells his story” (2015-2016), born from the collaboration between the general upper secondary school “V. Gassman” in Rome and “La Sapienza" University. The discussion of the theoretical and methodological assumptions of the activities proposed to the students, embedded in a circular perspective between research and teaching, is followed by the examination of the reasons why popular writings are useful for teaching Italian language. The article examines the various stages of the work and highlights the most significant aspects of the workshop, the applied methodology, while reflecting on the students' response and the results achieved.
