The present contribution examines the debate in the press following the publication of the results of the Invalsi tests in July 2019, pointing out hasty interpretations, or misleading ones, proposed by journalists. The second part proposes some ideas on how to interpret the data on linguistic competence gained from the Invalsi tests correctly, and how to exploit them as a useful instrument for the improvement of teaching.Downloads
